Saxon-Silesian SIMUL+ Workshop: ‘Regional Value Creation in the Age of Digitalisation’
As part of the forum and the simul+ workshop on digitalisation, smart production and smart regions & smart cities, participants will have the opportunity to present their work and gain insights into potential areas of cooperation with Silesian partners.
The Silesian Voivodeship, whose capital is Katowice, was recently awarded the title of ‘European Entrepreneurial Region’ by the European Committee of the Regions for its outstanding and innovative entrepreneurial strategy plan. Silesia is Poland’s most industrialised region and a major centre of heavy industry. Structural reforms have initiated a far-reaching modernisation of various economic sectors and promoted the development of a knowledge-based economy, underpinned by close links between universities, research and development centres, and local businesses. Silesia therefore presents itself as an interesting partner for Saxony.
The planned simul+ workshop will complement the Future Forum, organised on the initiative of Silesian Marshal Jakub Chełstowski, by addressing the topics of digitalisation, smart production, and smart regions & smart cities. The trend towards automation is growing ever stronger in Polish industry and is being driven forward in Silesia in particular through specific initiatives. The ‘Green Silesia’ strategy also supports the transition to a green economy in both urban and rural areas.
