New add-on simplifies delivery note entry in the WMS

News Placeholder2

Traditionally, delivery notes are entered manually by the operator – field by field – in the goods-in department. With the add-on in iFD-WMS, this will soon be a thing of the past. A single scan or photo of the delivery note automatically captures all the information, and the document is also digitally archived with the transaction. This saves time and allows staff to focus on important process steps.

The capture technology is based on OCR (Optical Character Recognition), a process that identifies the scanned text and converts it into a text file that can be read by computers and word processing software. Capture is carried out using a standard scanner or by taking a photograph. In this way, it is possible to protect existing paper archives and the important content they contain from deterioration and make them accessible in a legally compliant manner in the long term. Using OCR recognition, delivery notes are read and all relevant data, such as supplier, order number and delivery quantities, are transferred directly to iFD’s Warehouse Management System or a connected ERP system. The elements recognised as text by the software are compared with the templates and properties available in the programme. In this way, the tool recognises the text line by line and reassembles the document in accordance with the initial analysis. The data can be saved in PDF, DOC or any other file format as required. Furthermore, the data recognised by the software is stored in the relevant table columns within the Warehouse Management System’s database.

In addition to delivery note entry, iFD’s WMS offers further intelligent components and logic for the optimal control of logistics.
