iFD supplies a warehouse management system to the plastics industry

News Placeholder2

iFD GmbH is pleased to welcome a well-known manufacturer of plastic products based in southern Thuringia as a new client. The company primarily produces its products using injection moulding for the cosmetics and food industries.

The company is constructing a new warehouse with an adjacent production facility, investing eleven million euros in the project and creating many new jobs.

The warehouse is being built as a high-bay warehouse, equipped with semi-automatic narrow-aisle forklifts and a lorry loading area.

For this expansion, the introduction of an agile and highly available warehouse management system, including system monitoring, is essential.

The system is implemented entirely in Java, is object-oriented and uses a relational database accessed by all system components. It is structured according to client-server architecture, is scalable in all parts and adaptable to future extensions. The system implementation will optimise and simplify existing processes and increase transparency within intralogistics.

The solution concept envisages a two-stage roll-out. The roll-out is planned for late summer 2019.

In future, the WMS will manage the following customer areas:

  • High-bay warehouse
  • Loading zone
  • Deliveries from production and other sites
  • Stock warehouse at the main site
