The cool breeze of optimisation

Tddk Der Kuehle Hauch Von Optimierung

Pretty cool: With the iFD forklift guidance system, TD Deutsche Klimakompressor GmbH is optimising the internal transport of its forklift fleet and achieving impressive process improvements.

TD Deutsche Klimakompressor GmbH (TDDK for short), based in Bernsdorf, is a leading manufacturer of air conditioning compressors for vehicles. With the slogan “the cool breath of quality”, TDDK has been making a promise for decades that is proven with every compressor produced.
In total, TDDK uses 16 forklifts to handle its internal transport volume.
Prior to the introduction of the SLS, TDDK’s processes certainly offered scope for optimisation. For example, forklift drivers were shown available storage locations via a magnetic board, which, due to the time lag between picking up and delivering goods to already occupied spaces, led to a large number of empty runs.
With the help of the iFD forklift guidance system, which takes over the global control of the forklift fleet whilst simultaneously managing the requirements relevant to warehouse management, a significant process improvement was achieved.

The project focused on optimising the main processes ‘supplying production with replenishment orders’ and ‘storing delivered goods in the various warehouse areas’.

The iFD forklift guidance system has rendered the previously used magnetic board completely obsolete, the increased traffic volume at junctions can be handled without any problems and pointless empty runs to already occupied storage locations are a thing of the past.
The excellent optimisation algorithms of the forklift guidance system ensure that the supply reliability of production and the productivity of the forklift fleet are significantly increased.

Designed as a “all-round carefree package”, the forklift guidance system handles not only the global control and optimisation of the fleet but also warehouse management. Via the integrated storage location management, the iFD-SLS monitors not only rack storage locations but also block and channel storage, thereby ensuring end-to-end stock transparency.
By combining these functionalities in a single system, the control room operator not only has an overview of the warehouse fill level but can also easily assess transport volumes.

TDDK is thus assured of excellent transparency regarding its own intralogistics.
