iFD modernises tray storage system at LTS Nordwest GmbH in Nordenham

LTS Nordwest GmbH, founded in 2005, is a full service logistics provider offering its customers individual all-in-one solutions along the supply chain. As a service provider for the aviation industry and as an operator of materials management centres, flexible, fast and qualitative processes must be guaranteed at all times.

The success factors of LTS are efficient LEAN logistics through leading edge technology and excellent IT solutions. Therefore, it is their primary goal to continuously optimise their warehouse technology. To be able to continue to realise logistics processes with the highest quality, efficiency, and flexibility, LTS Nordwest GmbH decided in February of this year to modernize its tray storage system at Nordenham.

The project is being managed by Telogs GmbH as a general contractor. They offer the full range of services in their modernisation projects, from IT modernisation and upgrading of the control systems, to complete rebuilds including replacement and expansion of the mechanical as well as electronic assemblies.

The contract for the modernization of the material flow control system for the existing 4-aisle automatic tray storage system was awarded to iFD GmbH.

In the pre-zone of the tray storage system are eight picking stations on two levels, each of which is connected to the automatic warehouse via a conveyor loop. The iFD-MFCS is used as a software system for the new material flow control and plant visualization. In the future, this will enable cross-docking transport movements between the two levels of picking stations. Furthermore, the monitoring of the capacities of the buffer and picking stations, including the optimised consideration of these in the control of the material flows, will be possible.

The modernisation of the warehouse is planned in two stages. In the 1st rebuild stage, the iFD-MFCS and the new Telogs conveyor control system, as well as the new safety technology will be implemented. In a 2nd rebuild stage, the controls for the storage and retrieval machines will be renewed step by step per aisle.

In this project, Telogs and iFD are combining their logistic competences and many years of experience for a further cost-optimized and efficient process design at LTS Nordwest GmbH.

We wish to express our thanks for the trust you have placed in us and we are looking forward to the joint realization of the project.
